MAY NEWS

May 14, 2010

Dear Families,

Neither storms, nor rain, nor mud could keep the high energy down or fun from happening on picnic day. Hats off to Kim Anderson, Angie Bruner, Michele Gebhardt, Dena Dobson, Sarah Robinson, Kate Roth, Lynn Hollahan, Kathy Lay and Kathy Korte as very active members of the Parent Club, they planned and planned and planned! With the help of many parents, our students had a fun packed day. I can’t thank all of you enough for willingly changing your regular schedules around to help out at our picnic-even though it was an inside event. You are the best!!!

Next week will be our last full week of the school year! Our 8th graders will go on their class trip on Wednesday, receive their awards Friday morning and graduate Friday evening. It seems so impossible to be looking at our 8th graders leaving us in just one week! I even looked at our calendar again to check it. Sure enough, we are about to the end!

This Monday we will have an ISPD Implementation Team meeting at 6:00 p.m. We have had a wonderful response to being a part of this process. It’s all about getting better and by sharing ideas, thoughts, and effort we can make our school an even better educational experience for our children. I’m very excited about the growth and possibilities that I sense are coming our way!!

I know that you have been contacted by class representatives to help boost our percent of school families participating in the Annual Fund. At this point, we have only received support (prayer counts) from 37 of our 170 families. Our goal is to receive some kind of support from 100% of our school families. I know it’s easy to say that "we pay tuition" but our tuition only covers 50% to 65% of what it costs to educate each child. We have to depend on fund raisers and Parish support for the remainder. Annual Fund is a part of these "other" sources. This covers a lean budget and when extras are needed - like re-wiring for an 80 year old building - we face it as an extra challenge. Please help us step closer to our goal by sending in a little, medium sized - or healthy amount for the Annual Fund/Rewiring campaign.

As the end of the school approaches please be sure to have all lunch, After School and tuition payments current and library books turned in or replaced. The last thing we want is for a child to be embarrassed or sad but we don’t have the financial back-up to absorb missed payments. Thank you for helping us have a worry free report card day.

Have a wonderful week-end. I’m hoping for some sunshine and warmth!

Rita Carney

Thanks from Parent Club:

The Parent Club wants to acknowledge the many parents and grandparents who helped with the school picnic. These included the set-up and take down crew, those who stayed with the students, those who were prepared to drive, and all the cake bakers. A successful event takes a lot of help and we appreciate all of you.
